This tutorial was created with Vray version 2.0. Please do not email me with questions about this tutorial if you are using a Vray version prior to V-ray 2.0, since the answer to your question is most likely that you’re using a older version.

Fnord software have released a free update to ProEXR bringing several new improvements.
Chaos Group have release a free update to V-Ray 2.0 for Maya, bringing new Hair & Fur capabilities, V-Ray RT GPU enhancements and several other new features.
Released yesterday on the forum ChaosGroup, Vlado grouped the tools V-ray left outside the official release.
